Access control systems with programmable threat levels ensure that users can quickly initiate safety measures or restrictions in critical situations to improve emergency response. They can quickly fortify buildings or areas by unlocking or locking all doors or opening some while locking others.

Inaudible announcements during an emergency can create panic. When a critical event occurs, school or campus personnel can help facilitate an accurate response by using our public address system to play clear pre-recorded messages to ensure evacuation or shelter-in-place instructions are easily understood.

In order for teachers and staff to feel safe at school, we have a specific alarm device called the Panic button. It can be strategically placed in classrooms, under teachers' desks, in administrative offices, or in common areas, enabling staff and students to quickly alert security in case of an emergency. When activated, it can trigger multiple events simultaneously, for instance sounding an alarm, locking all doors, sending text notifications, and reporting the emergency to the appropriate authorities.

The different threat levels can – in minimum time – make all doors open, all doors locked, or a mix of some open and some blocked. A unique option that Bosch offers to use in threat situations is the possibility to reconfigure certain doors in a second so that only first responders with the highest authorization get permission to enter the area, while all other cardholders are blocked. Besides in high threat situations, threat level management is also useful in case of low threat level situations like sports events, open days, or parents’ evenings at schools.

Earlier in life, Craig served honorably in the United States Air Force for 11 years before transitioning into law enforcement with the City of Hoover, Alabama Police Department.
